Elsie performs for the camera

24 May 2013

Today at lunch time I was taking some photos of Olive eating when Elsie said "Do Elsie, do Elsie!" and started posing for the camera. It's the first time she's done that...she's always wanted to HAVE the camera previously. Strike a pose!

Elsie doesn't sleep in the big bed

I've been trying to get Elsie used to sleeping in her new bed. The rules are:
• must wear her sleep sack
• no toys
• no playing
• lie down
• close eyes
• sleep
If she breaks the rules she goes in her cot.  Today I left her to settle then when I went to check I found that she had taken Olive's Snowsuit and was trying to put it on. She'd done a pretty good job! But she still ended up in the cot!

Christmas ham

Today at lunch Elsie made a shape out of ham then declared it....a Christmas Tree!

Then she ate it. Delicious!

Elsie Sleeps in a Proper Bed

Today we picked up the two wee beds I had bought from Royal Tunbridge Wells. They are delightful and Elsie was very excited! We had our first BBQ of the season today. Lovely weather. Delectable company. At Simon and Deanna's. Just lovely. Feeling a bit sad

Elsie Jumps!

With two feet! Not sure if this video captures the two footed jump but this was the moment it occurred. After MONTHS of a weirdy gallopy thing we finally have proper jumping. Olive thought it was most entertaining too.

May Day

So today was my 37th birthday.
I had such a lovely day. The sun shone and I got to spend it with my girls.  Lucky lady.
Elsie and I made banana fairy cakes which we iced this morning with lemon icing and sprinkles. We took these to our regular children's centre to celebrate my birthday. All the children sang me happy birthday at circle time. Aww!
Elsie had a great time playing outside. I love this photo of her tearing around on the trike wearing snorkelling goggles and carrying a torch. Hilarious.
Elsie and I had a mini party at home for lunch .  we had crisp and marmite sandwiches in white bread.  Else had a small packet of Haribo sweets which she rapidly dispensed with.  I looked up just as she popped the last jelly heart into her mouth. "Aww no haribo for mummy?" I laughed.  She gave me a cheeky look like "miiine!" Then paused thought about it, retrieved the half masticated sweet from her mouth, bit it accurately in half and gave it to me.  Sweet!

Sleeping the big bed

We have been trying to encourage Elsie to sleep in the big bed in her room. Until today she has always said that she wanted to go into her cot.  Today she opted for the bed. However, she was really excited and had a bit of trouble staying still.  There was much rampaging of the room.  After about ninety minutes of hijinx I put her into her cot and she was out like a light in 5 minutes.

Thursday 22 March-day off with my baby

Today I had a day off work so I enjoyed a precious day with my baby girl. It was a really really warm spring day so after a massive morning sleep and lunch we headed down to the park. Elsie insisted on wearing her back pack which she had previously filled with treasure earlier the morning (dad's car keys, Jess's brown shoes, a book about farm animals and a comb). She also insisted on walking to the park all by herself but she hasn't really mastered the travelling on course bit - or the walking bit. This is us going round in circles on the grass outside our development.

It was lovely to be able to hang out at the playground this afternoon in the sun. Lovely and warm we spent ages just relaxing and sitting on the (dry!) grass while Elsie practiced walking up and down slopes.

14 March 2012

No more accidents today thankfully and Elsie really enjoyed her bath. She is drooling heavily, having cut her third top tooth and I can see that the 4th is coming through too. Poor baby. She is still proudly saying her favourite word "uh oh" which has been firmly added to her existing vocabulary:

*da-di

*hiya

*hi

She has also started saying "mo" which I hoped was the beginning of mummy, howeger, I have realised that this is in fact "more" - usually with reference to food!

This evening she came up with one more new word. She was poking me in the eye (as she does ) and I was saying "Elsie no" (as you do) when she clear as a bell looked me in the eye and said "neh".

12 March 2012 - Elsie gets a shiner!

Today Elsie got a black eye at nursery! It seems she was fighting with some other children over a toy and the next thing she fell backwards. It was after this that staff noticed her eye. Elsie had the toy in her hands so it seems like she may have wrested it from the other babies and klonked herself in the eye with it!

In other news she apparently really enjoyed her spaghetti bolognese today.

Elsie playing in the hat box. I could just imagine this. She is really starting to imitate us in our daily tasks and is starting to try and help with things like dressing and eating. Her independent streak is developing!

Elsie has her first accident! I arrived early to collect her only to find her with blood running down her lip. It was quite a sight and I think the staff were mortified eith my timing.more than anything.  The diagram on the accident form cracked Joel and I up. Why don't they have a diagram of a child's body?

Lovely to see that Elsie is babbling away at nursery - to me it indicates she's feeling secure.  Joel and I think that the sharing business is utter rubbish though!
