Cockle Hunting

Our catch

Today we went out into Huia Bay at low tide and gathered some cockles to make Spaghetti Alla Vongole. It was good to put the gumboots to good use.  Vongole is my favourite dish.  It was easy to find enough cockles for dinner - although they weren't that big. We've decided this is definitely to be a once a week affair.  

We made a tomato-based vongole as we didn't have any white wine to do the 'blanco' kind

We took Elsie in the front pack all rugged up in a jumper and woolly hat. She loved it even when the torrential rain came down (don't worry I had an umbrella) eventually falling asleep in the front pack.
